About Powerbag by Ful

Powerbag by FulWe may not all agree on what phone, tablet, eReader, or computer is best, but there’s one thing we all can say without a doubt; it’s frustrating when your device is dead and you’re nowhere near a power source or you’ve forgotten your power adapter. Well, the folks over at ful have a solution for this common problem.

Meet Powerbag by Ful. Powerbags are bags that are equipped with a charging system that is designed to charge or top off eReaders, tablets, cell phones, iPads, netbooks, and other electronic devices when you’re on the go. They are available in several styles including backpacks, messenger bags, and slings which means you can not only charge your device, you can also carry other daily and work essentials in these bags.

How do Powerbags work? Simple. Plug the bag into the wall outlet to charge it. Ful recommends plugging the bag in and letting it fully charge on first use as well. An indicator on the outside of the bag lets you know just how much power you have left. Then, grab the bag and go and when you’re ready to charge your device, plug it in to one of the connectors. The charging system in this bag includes a battery, Apple connector, Micro- and Mini-USB connectors, and a USB port which means that you can connect and charge hundreds of mobile device types.

How well do Powerbags charge? Well, if the reviews from Laptop Magazine, Mac Life, The New York Times, and MSNBC are any indication, they work very well. Powerbag by ful was even an International CES Innovations 2012 Design and Engineering Awards Honoree. The bags can charge up to 4 devices at once anywhere, anytime and can boost the average smartphone at least 2X.

See the entire Powerbag by ful collection at eBags.com. Powerbags also make great gifts for gadget-lovers, techies, and frequent travelers.

The Many Uses of Laptop Sleeves

Laptop SleevesWith the huge selection of laptop bags available including traditional shoulder bags, laptop backpacks, laptop messengers, and totes, you might wonder why laptop sleeves are still made. However, they continue to be one of the most sought-after styles of computer bags today and with good reason. Laptop sleeves offer unique functionality for a variety of purposes.

Turn any bag into a laptop bag: With a laptop sleeve, you can turn a bag without a built-in laptop compartment into a laptop bag. That means if you’ve got a favorite messenger bag, designer tote, school backpack, or any other bag that you want to use as a laptop bag, you can do so simply by stashing your computer in a sleeve first and then placing that in your bag. Laptop sleeves without a handle are best for use with other bags.

Carry just the essentials without bulk: For the times when you simply want to take your laptop and a few accessories like the power adapter with you, a laptop sleeve is an ideal choice. The laptop sleeve provides adequate protection for your computer without the bulk of a traditional laptop bag. Laptop sleeves with handles are a great choice in this scenario.

For smaller mobile devices: A sleeve is an ideal choice when you want to carry and protect a smaller device while on the go. This includes tablets, netbooks, and especially iPads. While there are certainly full-featured bags that are designed to fit iPads and tablets, sleeves are a more popular choice because they offer protection from occasional bumps and scrapes without the unnecessary bulk.

Do you own a laptop sleeve? What do you use your sleeve for? Comment below and let us know.

Laptop Sleeves for Back to School

Ever been caught out in the rain without an umbrella to shield your backpack or tote? Or how about that time you had to slam on the brakes and your backpack went flying off the seat and into the dash? In a perfect world, we would be able to avoid instances like these and keep our laptops safe. Many of us, however, are guilty of simply throwing our laptop into our bag on the way out the door and calling it good. This method is usually fine until your backpack suddenly goes tumbling off a table or chair, or you get caught in a sudden rainstorm with your laptop barely protected by a drenched bag. After having to get a cracked screen repaired or waiting in line at the Apple store for hours to repair water damage to your computer, you’ll probably be wishing you had a laptop sleeve.

Laptop sleeves are designed to protect your computer from damage caused by every-day actions, and are typically made from one of four materials: rubber, leather, synthetic fabric, or vinyl. Even if you carry your computer in your backpack, your laptop can still be damaged if something spills on your backpack and water seeps into your screen or hard drive. Rubber and leather styled sleeves are designed specifically to provide a water resistant layer around your laptop. Leather laptop sleeves tend to be of higher quality and are therefore a bit more expensive than other types. Synthetic and vinyl laptop sleeves come in a wide range of colors, patterns and styles and are typically inexpensive but made to be replaced more frequently than higher quality sleeves.

While all laptop sleeves are made to fit snugly around your computer and protect it from potential bumps and bruises, there certainly isn’t one universal design. Many designs offer a generic fit in order to fit a number of different computers, while others are made for specific models. While all are essentially designed to be placed in a larger bag, many models have detachable carrying straps so that the sleeve can be carried independently from a larger bag, some may have zippers as opposed to Velcro, and others may even have multiple pockets. Here are some of my favorite laptop sleeves for back to school, broken down by  caregory. Enjoy!

Basic Sleeves with no Pockets or Shoulder Strap
Cinda B Laptop Sleeve Case Logic 10.2 inch Netbook Sleeve Cable Knit I love these laptop sleeves by cinda b and caselogic because they are both simple and sleek while allowing you to showcase your personal style. I personally own the cinda b sleeve and I absolutely love it- I get compliments on it all the time! These sleeves are just 2 examples of the hundreds of sleeves you can choose from to protect your laptop and make a statement at the same time!
Sleeves with Shoulder Straps
Vera Bradley Laptop Portfolio in Plum Petals Targus 17 inch Notebook Slip Case Laptop sleeves with shoulder straps are great because they can be used inside a larger bag if you have additional books or materials to carry, or they can be used alone if you only need to take your laptop and a few files or a notebook. Most have detachable shoulder straps so that the sleeve is more compact if used in a larger bag.
Sleeves with Pockets
Amy Butler Nola Laptop Wrap Timbuk2 Quickie Laptop Sleeve M Choosing a laptop sleeve with pockets is useful for carrying multiple electronics at once, or when you want to store your laptop, power cord, and other accessories all in one package. Laptop sleeves with multiple pockets are nice on long trips when you want to keep your notebook, ipod, headphones and adaptors all organized in one place.
