We’ve received quite a few comments recently about eBags’ lunch bags so I thought I’d do a quick post to feature some of my favorites. You can find all of the eBags lunch bags here.

So I guess you can say that I not only work for eBags, I’m also a client. I use the eBags Slim Lunch Box EVERY day. Well, not the days I eat out of course, but I am so glad I bought this bag. It’s great because it fits almost anywhere from the smallest office refrigerators to the large fridges that are usually packed with stuff. I like the Grasshopper color because it goes well with the green interior of my black eBags Vivid Collector Tote - Medium. And while this lunch box is thin, it actually can hold quite a bit. I can get a soda can or water bottle, 2 or 3 100 calorie packs or equivalent size snacks, a piece of fruit (depending on the main dish), and a main dish in there (frozen meal, leftovers in a container, or sandwiches). I can also fit in utensils and napkins if necessary in the mesh velcro pouch.

Take the advice of a road warrior who has honed the art of traveling the world with a well-equipped, expandable briefcase:

Size matters. Most business travelers carry a laptop, cell phone or other PDA, files, battery chargers and modem cables, headphones, CD or MP3 player, books and magazines and snacks. Choose a briefcase large enough to accommodate your business necessities, but not so large it will not fit under airline seats or in overhead bins.

Watch your weight. All those necessities add weight to your bag. Although U.S. airlines do not currently enforce personal carry-on weight limits, international carriers do enforce stringent carry-on weight restrictions. Check individual carriers for carry-on weight limits. Weigh your empty briefcases. The heavier the empty case, the less you can carry on board in it. Weigh the fully loaded briefcase. It is easier to remove items or repack prior to arriving at the airport.

If you have back problems, opt for a wheeled briefcase to ease the strain of lugging it for long distances. Shoulder straps are helpful for hand-free maneuvering through airports, subways and busy sidewalks. Also, look for back sleeves or top straps to secure the briefcase to your rolling carry-on luggage.

Adequate compartments make staying organized easier. Look for a briefcase with easy access for removing and restoring your laptop when clearing airline security or working on a flight or commuter train. Small zippered outside pockets keep small electronics, business cards or loose change within easy reach. Outside sleeves for a newspaper or umbrella come in handy.

Look for strong zippers, sturdy briefcase hardware and a briefcase combination lock or other security device. Do your homework before choosing a briefcase. Research and compare different styles of briefcases online. Read briefcase reviews. Above all, in choosing a briefcase for men or a briefcase for women, look for a style that facilitates doing business and improves, not impedes, the process of travel and daily commutes.
