Toddler Backpacks

When is a standard school backpack appropriate for toddlers? NEVER. You never want to risk back injury to a toddler or young child by letting them carry something not suited for their size. Even a standard backpack with less weight isn’t a good idea because the weight is not evenly distributed across the back. So what’s the alternative? toddler backpacks - sometimes called preschool backpacks or kindergarten backpacks.

Toddler backpacks are bags designed for young kids. These mini-backpacks are not only designed to accommodate smaller bodies, but they often feature fun colors and characters. These backpacks are perfect for use in preschool and kindergarten.

Boring Diaper Bags - As Bad As Mom Jeans?

Kalencom Traveler Quilted Diaper BagLet’s face it, there’s a plethora of boring diaper bags out there. Want something plain in pastel pink or blue? You’ve got a ton of choices. But who wants to carry a bag that screams “I gave up on fashion when I had kids”? Not me. You might as well buy yourself a set of mom jeans if you’re going to go down that path. And that’s why I’ve got my eye on some truly stylish diaper bags that look more like handbags than baby bags.

The nice thing about these bags is that you don’t have to spend a fortune to get style. For instance, the Kalencom Traveler Quilted bag is less than $100. And for that price you get not only the standard items such as multiple Liz Lange Cherie Diaper Bagpockets, stroller straps, changing pad, and bottle tote, but also a beautiful bag that can be used even after you’re no longer carrying around diapers and bottles.

If diaper totes are your bag (pun intended), then check out our newest diaper bag brand - Liz Lange. The Liz Lange Cherie’s clean lines make the bag truly chic. It also includes everything you’ve come to expect from diaper bags including bottle tote, change pad, pockets, and even a matching clutch. And while you might expect to pay upwards of $300 for the bag, right now it’s on sale for under $150.

Bisadora Lime Green Geometric Print Baby Bag ToteIf you’re hoping to spend less, perhaps the Bisadora Lime Green Geometric Print Baby Bag Tote is for you. It’s under $50 right now. The bright lime green color will keep you feeling and looking cheery even in the middle of winter. This is another bag that can be used even beyond baby for things like travel and errands. This bag is ideal for older babies and toddlers as it is a bit smaller than other standard bags.

JanSport SuperBreak - a Classic Back To School Backpack

If you attended school within the last 30 years, you’re sure to recognize the best-selling JanSport SuperBreak backpack. Sure some of the colors and patterns have come and gone, but the bag’s simplicity, quality, and versatility continues to make it a classic.

I still remember going to the store and picking out my new backpack every Back To School season. I always chose the SuperBreak. It’s what all the kids were carrying so, naturally, I wanted the same thing. Back then I was limited to the selection available in the store, but these days, kids benefit from the fact that you can find nearly every variation online.

One of my favorite aspects about the JanSport SuperBreak is that you can get a stylish look for a reasonable price. Love hearts? Check out the Pink Phenomenon/Shell Tan Double Fun print. Want something edgier? Take a look at the Cuban Brown Splatter Skull or Blk/White Different Sizes print. The Chocolate Chip series is always a hit and has been updated for 2009. And the best part is that you can get any of these and the nearly 40 other patterns for around $30 each here at eBags.

A New Alternative

It’s hard to go a day without hearing one of the jaw-dropping statistics.
“Every second, 400 light and aerodynamic plastic bags are distributed in the State of California… that’s 14 billion her year.” (Californians Against Waste)

But even after the barrage of horrifying information, how many of us have bothered to start using the less-wasteful alternatives?

Is it hesitancy to be labeled as a tree-hugging, crunchy-granola hippy?

Understandably, some consumers might pause before shelling out their hard-earned money for one of the bland, lifeless and at times just-plain-ugly reusable bags being promoted…

Fear not, eBags is ready to help guide you in the right direction with a large selection of reusable options! You’ll be lending both yourself and the planet a hand when you replace those flimsy, easily torn plastic bags with a sturdy tote!

Different Bags for Different Grades: Choosing the Right Bag for Your Kids

You can tell your kids are growing up when they’re no longer asking for the awesome dinosaur backpack or the cute barbie bag for back-to-school shopping. Not only that, but you’ll find that backpacks are getting pricier the older your kids get. So how can you find the best bag for your kids without emptying your wallet?

The key is looking at what grade your child is in. There are two major transitions in terms of backpacks for your kids. The first is when they move from elementary school to middle school. The second when they go from middle school to high school. Each time period calls for a different bab. Below I’ve mentioned some key things to look for to make the transitions a little bit easier.

Bags for Elementary:

From Kindergarten to about 5th grade, you won’t have to worry about your kids toting along a heavy haul. If anything, they’ll only have to worry about carrying some pencils and a folder for their papers. Which means that you won’t have to worry about finding a gigantic bag for them.

The key is to find a bag your child likes: one that’s unique, personalized, and durable. You know they’re going to put the bag through trauma. As a parent, that’s your key goal. The rest you can leave up to your little boy or girl.                                                                                                   LEGO Jr School Bag in Black/Skeleton

A good example would be this LEGO Jr School Bag. It’s sized specifically for younger elementary school children, designed for kids, and built with durable LeSportsac Basic Backpackmaterials so you won’t have to worry about it falling apart on you.

For your little girl, you can also consider the LeSportsac Basic Backpack. The bag comes with padded straps, and is fairly spacious while still staying light. A bag like this could potentially be used throughout the elementary school years.

Bags for Middle-Schoolers:

Here’s when you’re kids are going to start worrying about the way their backpacks really look. And they’ll be hauling a few more notebooks and supplies than the average elementary school Hurley Kids One and Only Backpackstudent. Which means you’re going to have to upgrade to an even more durable bag.

A good choice would be the Hurley Kids One and Only Backpack. It’s a step away from the dolls and dinosaurs and legos. But it also has a sense of big kid style to it. Plus, it’s built with more compartments and room: all with durable materials. So no matter how far your kid drags it home, it’ll still make it in one piece. Roxy Crystal Clear Backpack

For girls, you can always go with a Roxy Crystal Clear Backpack. They’re durable and come with a sassy sense of style. And they’re definitely an upgrade in terms of size and durability from the average elementary school backpack.

Bags for High Schoolers:

Welcome to the beginning of life with textbooks. Your growing kid is going to have to be hauling around some pretty hefty supplies throughout highschool. Which means you’re going to want a backpack that can handle all of the stress while also supporting your child’s back. And of course, your kid is going to want to put in their two cents on what sort of style they’re looking for.

You’re going to have to consider all of the following:

1) Durability
2) Space
3) Style
4) Music (headphone and MP3 pocket)
5) Laptops
6) Support

OGIO MastermindA good bag would be the OGIO Mastermind. It’s a fairly massive bag, but it comes with padded straps along with a sternum strap for greater support. It has a padded laptop sleeve compartment that’s separate from the main compartment, making it easier to access the computer. Plus, it has a weather proof compartment for MP3 players and a headphone jack. Along with its stylish curves and durability, the Mastermind makes for one of the best high school bags out there.
