This week launches the kick-off of National Travel and Tourism Week, which runs from May 1-7, 2016 in the United States. Established in 1983 by a congressional resolution, the purpose of the week is to galvanize the travel industry and celebrate its contributions to the U.S. economy. It’s also a great time to celebrate all things travel, and as we move into the summer travel season, we know travel is on the minds of many.
This week eBags is highlighting four amazing places to plan a summer sojourn, including Orlando, Machu Picchu, London and Bali. Visit our site each day to check out our curated packing guides for each destination and head over to Instagram to participate in our #WanderUSA promotions all week!
To kick off #NTTW16 and to get everyone excited for summer travel, we’ve curated a few of our favorite travel quotes that remind us of these wonderful places! Now go out there and plan your next trip! Happy National Travel & Tourism Week!
“Life is not measured by the breaths you take, but by those that take your breath away.”
– Quote used to sum up Machu Picchu
“Surely, of all the wonders of the world, the horizon is the greatest.”
– Freya Stark
“In the variety of its charms and the power of its spell, I know of no other place in the weld which can compare with it.”
– Hiram Bingham, ‘discoverer’ of Machu Picchu
“All our dreams can come true, if we have the courage to pursue them.”
– Walt Disney
“When preparing to travel, lay out all your clothes and all your money. Then take half the clothes and twice the money.
– Susan Heller
“A bad day in London is still better than a good day anywhere else.”
“It’s an irritating reality that many places and events defy description. Angkor Wat and Machu Picchu, for instance, seem to demand silence, like a love affair you can never talk about. For a while after, you fumble for words, trying vainly to assemble a private narrative, an explanation, a comfortable way to frame where you’ve been and what’s happened. In the end, you’re just happy you were there- with your eyes open- and lived to see it.”
– Anthony Bourdain
“When you’re traveling, you are what you are right there and then. People don’t have your past to hold against you. No yesterdays on the road.”
– William Least Heat Moon
“If we were meant to stay in one place, we’d have roots instead of feet.”
– Rachel Wolchin
“Promise yourself that one day you will wake up on Bali”
“When you come to a fork in the road….take it”
– Yogi Berra
