Tonight was a big night for movies. Not only because of the awards show, but also because of the fashion on the red carpet. People tonight and for a few days will be checking out who was wearing what - from dresses to tuxedos and from jewelry to hairstyles.

But what about accessories like handbags? Too many times the dress steals the show while the bag takes a backseat. That shouldn’t be. Even though an evening bag is relatively small, it can make or break the whole look. Choose something too bold and it can ruin the dress. Choose something too coordinating and you might as well carry nothing at all.

The key to great red carpet handbags is to choose something in line with the theme of your overall look (sophisticated, elegant, cute, etc.) in a coordinating color. I was walking by the magazines tonight at the store and saw that one said bucket bags are hot this season. I haven’t heard much buzz on bucket handbags, but now that I read that, I do remember seeing some new styles on our site from brands like Joe’s Handbags.

Bucket bags are handbags that are taller than they are wide. Typically a bucket bag has a rounded bottom, unlike totes that are taller than wide but have more of a square, flat bottom. Bucket bags are named so because they resemble a bucket.

This was definitely a packed-full trip…..between the NYC Gift show at the Javits center and countless meetings with existing and new vendors. We are going to start carrying fashion accessories on eBags in the very near future, so we met with lots of new brands. Wait until you see some of the jewelry, scarves, sunglasses and watches we are going to be carrying…TO DIE FOR!!!

Besides being a bit chilly, the weather was perfect…this is very rare for February in New York.

When parts of the country are blanketed in white, it might be hard to imagine that spring is around the corner…but it is. And spring is what the handbags world is buzzing about right now. Spring trends are making headlines, one of which is bright colored handbags.

It’s not too surprising to see bright colored handbags as a trend for spring 2010. The beautiful colors of flowers, grass, sky, and sunny days at springtime are a natural inspiration for the fashion world.
