Just who is this, Lady of the Lake?
In 2011, Oliver Voss, head of the Miami Ad Agency took Hamburg, Germany by storm in creating this 3-part masterpiece right in the middle of Hamburg’s most famous, Alster Lake.
He explained his vision to create this 12ft bathing beauty by saying, “‘My team and I wanted to demonstrate this relationship in a fun and entertaining way. We also hope she will encourage more people to rediscover and experience our city by the water – after all, if the Inner Alster is the living room of Hamburg, of course someone should make themselves comfortable in it!
While the art was only displayed for a total of 10 days, it stirred up quite the controversy. According to Mail Online, the district mayor of Hamburg, Markus Schreiber, told “de Bild” newspaper that the unusual figure is ‘sullying the beloved lake’.
