What Is It?
So: you’ve resolved to be healthier. You have your yoga app. You’re using your running app. You’re counting calories on another app. You’re the queen of fitness apps, swimming in stats—but what do they all mean? Yes, the results look good…but why are there so many numbers and charts? Rather than flashing back to algebra and (gulp) calculating weighted averages, download a single app to score your health: Nudge.
Nudge crunches all of your health data and compiles one score, known as the Nudge Factor. The score is surrounded by a pie chart broken into four sections: sleep, food, beverages and activity. Rather than fixating on one area of fitness, Nudge helps you become an all-around better you.
How Does It Work?
Nudge automatically syncs with other apps on your phone: MapMyFitness, Moves, RunKeeper, Strava, Fitbit, Up by Jawbone, Sleep As and more. You can also manually enter your food and fitness information. Nudge aggregates all of the deets in one easy-to-see interface with charts and scores. SO much easier than trying to find the big picture across six different apps!
Nudge also files your day into categories: beverages, food, and activity. The beverages are broken down into cups of tea, coffee, juice, tea, and water. Food is broken down into servings of fruit, veggies, grains, proteins and dairy. Fitness follows a similar mantra, breaking out your accomplishments into running, walking, biking, sports, weights etc. Nudge walks the line between providing detailed information—so you can make specific tweaks—and not overwhelming the user with a slew of analytics.
The nudge algorithms aggregate all the data into a single health score, called the Nudge Factor. The closer to 110 this number is, the healthier your habits are. As days turn into weeks, Nudge lets you see your month at a glance with your wellness history in an easy-to-skim, beautiful interface. Each calendar day has four bar graphs, for each of the major categories, which are color-coded based on performance: green, yellow or red.
Prefer to break a sweat while rubbing elbows? Nudge your way into new circles by utilizing Nudge’s social component, Clubs. Clubs offer support and encouragement and are broken out by interest: running, yoga and more.
Our Favorite Part
We love how nudge is focused on the big picture. Rather than scolding you for too many calories or too few steps, Nudge takes a holistic approach to better health. Nudge truly assumes the role of a wingman in this sense: a nonjudgmental, no-nonsense confidante. In addition to classic calorie counting, Nudge has an option to track “no-no’s” like alcohol or smoking. Better still: there’s also the ability to set your energy level to “Zombie,” for those days when you don’t particularly want to be nudged.

Annie’s based in Los Angeles but hails from Portland, Oregon. Sort of. She moved to six states by the time she reached middle school, and continues to move around the US and abroad – call her a nomad, but she prefers “Location ADHD.” After studying abroad in New Zealand, Annie circled the globe, graduated from USC, and circled the world once again. For one year she lived out of a backpack everywhere from The Philippines to Nepal to Slovenia to Norway. She’s a curry connoisseur and passionate explorer, taking the road less traveled, the “trail” covered in vines and swarmed in exotic bugs. Foreign lands feel like home, and Annie loves encouraging more and more people to utilize their passports and experience a new culture.
