New Years is a time to celebrate, but it’s also a time when many people make resolutions to start and stop doing things. The most popular New Year’s Resolutions every year are lose weight/get fit, stop smoking or drinking, and save more/pay down debt. While that’s probably something you already knew, you may not have known how many popular New Years Resolutions can be tied to bags.
I’ll prove it. Here are our Top 10 New Year’s Resolutions for 2010 and the bags that can help you fulfill them.
Lose Weight/Get In Shape: This resolution might have the most obvious bag tie-in - gym bags. Gym bags are perfect for helping you toward your goal of getting in shape and/or losing weight. There are many different types of gym bags from the standard duffel to women’s sports totes, yoga bags, locker bags, and gym sacks (drawstring backpacks). For great gym bag choices, look at brands like Nike, Adidas, and Under Armour.
Stick to your budget: It might be easier to keep this resolution right after the holidays when you are feeling crunch, but a few months down the road, keeping within a budget might prove to be more difficult. Handbag spring arrivals come to mind as an upcoming temptation, though there are some things you can do to stay within your means and update your look for the new season. Start by shopping sale bags in our Sale section. For handbags, look at brands that are typically trendy but less spendy (Big Buddha, Kathy Van Zeeland, Jessica Simpson).
Reduce stress: These days everyone seems stressed out. Even though the holidays are over, the stress continues with work, family, kids, money, etc. Many people resolve to lower their stress and one great way to do this is to take up yoga. Yoga can provide a much-needed break from daily stresses and help you increase concentration, focus, and mental calmness. If you take up yoga, you’ll probably be looking into a yoga mat and, of course, you’ll need a stylish yoga bag. Check out our selection of yoga bags here at eBags.
Enjoy more time with family and friends: Quality time with friends and family is important and you may be setting a goal to do it more this year. Of course that means you may be going out more often so you’ll be needing bags to help you take along necessities. Taking the family to the beach? Take along your trusty beach bag to hold your sunscreen, beach toys, towels, snacks, and favorite book. Heading to the city with friends? Make sure you have a trendy shoulder bag or tote to look your best.
Get organized: Getting organized in 2010 might have varied meanings for you. It could mean that you need to get yourself a PDA or smartphone to remember all your appointments and to keep track of your to-do list. And we’ve got cell phone cases and PDA cases for those. It might mean you need to organize your home in which case be sure to check out Case Logic home organization products. We’ve also got auto organization products for keeping your car neat. Or maybe you simply need to organize your purse better. PurseN offers a collection of handbag organizer inserts that are great not only for organizing your bag contents, but also for allowing you to move your contents from bag to bag easily. Alternatively, check out organizer handbags which, as the name suggests, have built in organizing features like multiple pockets, keychains/key fobs, id windows, etc.
Learn something new: Sometimes this resolution is phrased as “find a new hobby”. Believe it or not, eBags sells bags that can help with many hobbies. Thinking of learning to play an instrument? We carry music instrument cases from brands like Protec. Want to start up knitting? Check out knitting bags from Della Q. Similarly we have bags for the budding photographer (camera bags), the golfer (golf bags), and the dancer (Transpack Dance backpack).
Find a better/new job: When you resolve to find a job, you also resolve to put your best foot forward. To make yourself look the best you can so that employers want to hire you. So you’ll need a professional looking bag to carry your resumes, references, and letters of recommendation in. You’ll also need a business bag for after you’re hired to keep up that professional appearance. A padfolio is perfect for interviews. Padfolios are binders that often include a notepad and several pockets for pens, business cards, ID, and additional papers. They’re great for interviews because you can hand out copies of your resume stored in the inside sleeve, jot notes down on the notepad, and store business cards inside for later. Laptop bags and briefcases are great choices once you’ve got the job.
Take a trip: Didn’t have a chance to take a vacation this year? Maybe you took a family vacation, but want to take an adventure trip to some exotic destination in 2010. Well, of course you’ll be needing some quality luggage for your travel resolution. From carry-on luggage for that short trip to travel backpacks for that European tour or designer luggage for that tropical getaway, we’ve got you covered with our huge selection of luggage. Now all you need is a destination and a plan to get going.
Go back to school: It’s never too late to continue your education. Many people resolve each year to go back to school. My husband right now is back in school and I can tell you that beyond in addition to needing a new laptop computer, a new backpack was a must. Now is the perfect time to find great deals on backpacks for school. Not only are there still closeouts from the last Back to School shopping season, but many brands are trying to sell off their 2009 versions to make room for new 2010 styles. Check out backpacks in our sale category for some great savings.
Read more: Reading is so important even when you’re done with school. It keeps your mind active. It keeps you learning. It gives you conversation topics. However, so many people find it difficult to find time to read. That’s why “read more” continues to make popular New Years Resolution lists. To help you fulfill this resolution, look for bags that have room for your book (laptop bags with extra pockets, totes with a small interior or exterior pocket, etc.). Bring along booklights when you travel. Try out using a Kindle® to read your books electronically and protect the device with a Kindle case. Or listen to audio books through a good pair of headphones like those from SkullCandy.
