The Diaper Bag Diaries – Florals

August Diaper Bag Diaries

Summer is winding to a close, but before we put away the sandals and swimsuits, let’s give a seasonal trend another look. Florals are always big for spring and summer, but this year blooms were popping up on Fall runways too. The key is to mix the flower patterns in with more traditionally autumn pieces. I could see this Kate Spade New York Grove Court Floral Harmony Bag with an emerald sweater dress and some leopard pumps, or playing up the orange with plaid or tweed in fall leaf hues. To match, my top picks for floral inspired accessories for both baby and momma.

Clockwise from Top Left…

  1. Vera Bradley Claudette Sunglasses
Out of all possible diaper bag toys, my little loves sunglasses best. A glamourpuss in training? Perhaps, but protection from the sun and peekaboo games are both reasons to stash sunnies in your bag.
  2. Sevi Flower
A hand-carved, non-toxic painted, high-design flower toy brightens up your bag. Learn cause-and-effect by twisting the petals to hear sounds. Almost as wonderful as a real bloom.
  3. Sakroots Artist Circle iPhone 5 Case
The painterly blossoms on this phone case are almost impressionistic, no? Celebrate your love for both nature and art… and easily locate the colorful cell at the bottom of your bag.
  4. Boscia Fashionably Matte
Summer means heat. While its still sunny and sticky, tuck these blotting papers in your diaper bag to keep you fresh as a daisy.
  5. kate spade new york iPad Folio Palm Springs Ginger
When you are trying to keep kiddos occupied in your pediatricians office, you can whip out the trusty ipad in this chic wrapping, and fool judging eyes into thinking its a notebook full of homework.
  6. Tea Collection Sea Flower Dress
The last weeks of summer freedom call for comfy clothes that get maximum mileage on play, with no sacrifice to style. Tea’s items fit now as a dress, and years from now as a top, making dollars stretch. Tuck one in your bag for a post-play-date swap.
  7. Amy Butler for Kalencom Carried Away Everything Bag
I’m a big fan of a bag-within-a-bag, for absolute organization. Zipper tops mean toddler fingers won’t pry into your bright lipstick, which makes it as safe as Fort Knox in Mom world.
  8. Nuby Snack Keeper
We all need snack keepers, and the ones with the no-spill tops keep crumbs to a manageable minimum. Might as well make practical pretty in a flower shape, because, everything is prettier as a flower.
  9. Emilie Sloan Antoinett Mini Tote
The kids aren’t the only ones who need to eat lunch. Amidst all the back-to-school shopping, don’t forget to grab yourself a lunch bag for work, or post-yoga.
  10. Corolle BabiLili Pink Cotton Flower Doll
Perhaps I chose this sweet doll because it looks like one my Grandma had, but weather or not she brings back memories for you, this vintage floral-dressed plaything will inspire new memories for your lass.
  11. Hobo Robin Wallet
Change purses are back, and for diaper bags, so perfect. Now you’ll always have a quarter for the grocery store pony, the gumball machine, or those pesky meters in front of your favorite park.
  12. Haba Flower Fairy Dangling figure
Sometimes the key to a successful lunch with baby is distraction. Bringing hanging toys that you can tie to a table leg means your little can have fun without flinging her flower friend into someone’s soup.
