Under Seat Luggage
You may have heard that Spirit Airlines is now going to charge for carry-on luggage that doesn’t fit underneath the seat, which begs the question, what kind of luggage can you fit under an airplane seat? Do a search for under seat luggage in Google and you certainly don’t find much. If other airlines follow Spirit’s lead, this may change, but for now you’ll want to look for rolling totes 16″ or under if you’re shopping for under seat luggage. Of course, there’s no guarantee that these bags will fit on every flight, but they will at least help you avoid baggage fees.
I say “help” avoid because you’ll still be charged for any checked luggage or additional carry on suitcases. So unless you are an efficient packer and are traveling overnight or you are flying out and back in the same day, you’re probably going to incur some fee on airlines who have policies like Spirit. Nonetheless, under seat luggage is still a great option to mimimize extra bag costs.
One of our best-selling pieces of under seat luggage is the LUCAS Wheeled Under the Seat Cabin Bag. It’s got everything you need for super-organized travel including a spacious main compartment, separate hanging toiletry bag, and front zippered pocket. It even comes with bonus travel slippers for quick and sanitary airport security checks. This rolling under seat luggage is a great option for anyone but is especially handy for frequent flyers. Plus, it’s affordable (on sale right now for $49.99 at eBags.com).
Other popular rolling under seat luggage options include the Atlantic Compass 2 Wheeled Carry-On Tote, the Travelon Wheeled Underseat Carry-On with Back-Up Bag, and the Rick Steves Avanti 16″ Rolling Tote.
